All of Dr. Jacobsen’s services below involve an element of parent counselling to assist parents to acquire effective skills for managing behavioural and learning concerns that may arise.
Psychological Assessment and Diagnosis for all AGES!
Psychological Assessment and Diagnosis of complex developmental disabilities including: autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities/differences, intellectual disabilities and other complex developmental disorders (such as Developmental Coordination Disorder or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) that impact on the learning and behaviour of children, youth and adults.
Educational Assessment
Educational Assessment focused on academic skills and the development of recommendations for remedial and adaptive interventions for children, youth and young adults entering post-secondary training or education settings.
What Assessment?
For diagnosis and educational assessments, the first test is a standardized cognitive measure (i.e. how the child thinks and reasons). Additional tests are chosen to investigate areas of concern and the measures for each child will be uniquely chosen. Areas that may be investigated include: language and communication, adaptive behaviours (i.e. skills for independence), attention and executive functions, reading, writing, mathematics (readiness or skills).
Behaviour Consultation
Behaviour Consultation in her role as founder and senior advisor of ABA Learning Centre. Services include; comprehensive assessment to assist in the development of an appropriate intensive intervention program; objective monitoring the child’s progress; providing advice/recommendations for program modifications; and, assisting with transitions to schooling.
Child and Parent Advocacy
Child and Parent Advocacy including consultation and counseling for parents and adolescents to assist in the development of self-advocacy skills for addressing concerns that arise in educational settings. Dr. Jacobsen assists adolescents and young adults in their transition to post-secondary settings by providing assessment and guidance regarding resources and self-advocacy in a post-secondary setting.

Dr. Jacobsen has provided numerous parent-friendly workshops and training workshops for professionals throughout the province and internationally.
